After putting away all the cards in their numerical respective order, I was 93 cards away from finishing Series 2.
In hopes of pulling a few cards towards the base I went and picked up this here retail tin yesterday. The goods from the trove underneath the cut.
2011-12 Upper Deck Series 2 Oversized Card
Alex Ovechkin #OS14
Dany Heatley #363
Steve Mason #401
Jean-Sebastien Giguere #407
A few of my visually-favorite base cards from inside the tin. As for the progress in knocking off a bunch of base cards that I've been missing from the set; I only managed to pull 39 cards that I didn't already have. In the end leaving me with a whopping 54 missing cards not including the Young Guns subset.
2011-12 Upper Deck Series 2 Young Guns
Stefan Elliott #464 Louis Leblanc #476 Bill Sweatt #496
From the tin break I pulled three SP Young Guns cards; Louis Leblanc being the most sought-after out of the lot. Didn't have any of these previously so they were all welcomed into my collection.
2011-12 Upper Deck UD Canvas
Colton Orr #C196
Young Guns Erik Gudbranson #C225
A fourth Young Gun pulled from this retail tin, not too shabby. The canvas versions are SSP and look great. I'd like to put this entire UD Canvas set together but it seems highly unlikely considering the set consists of 270 short-printed cards. Yikes. Think I'll stick with just trying to put the base set together for now thanks.
2011-12 Upper Deck 1960s Hockey Heroes
Gump Worsley #HH24
Pulled two Hockey Heroes inserts from the tin; the above card featuring Gump and a dupe of Delvecchio.
2011-12 Upper Deck Series 2 Victory Update
Ilya Bryzgalov #264 Dany Heatley #260 Jean-Sebastien Giguere #254
Three Upper Deck Victory Update cards.
2011-12 Upper Deck Series 2 Victory Rookie Update
Anton Lander #290 Mika Zibanejad #302 Calvin de Haan #301
Not very familiar with any of these guys.
2011-12 Upper Deck Series 2 MVP Update
John-Michael Liles #119
Ugh I don't like how Upper Deck included the entire MVP set inside their flagship product. Frustrating.
2011-12 Upper Deck Series 2 O-Pee-Chee Update
Marquee Rookie Update Zack Kassian #613
Retro Parallel Update Mika Zibanejad #619
And to end the tin; two update cards from the 2011-12 O-Pee-Chee set - I'm familiar with Kassian as he was part of the deadline trade that sent Cody Hodgson to the Sabres.
So there you have it.
Anyone else collecting this set? I'm also looking for cards from Series I. I have a few sets from this year that I'm a few cards shy from completing so maybe I'll begin working on them.
I'll post the winner from the readers contest tonight.
Nice hit with the Gudbranson
ReplyDeleteIf you have a list of what you need for anything from this year's sets, let me know. I have a ton of stuff I'd love to start getting to their rightful homes including half a case of Series II dupes.
ReplyDeleteI'll do that up. Thanks, maybe we can work out a trade involving Panini stickers.
