2011-12 Panini Pinnacle Break Pull

I've been picking up a few packs of 2011-12 cards here and there, mostly Upper Deck and Pinnacle - although the pack breaks have helped garner progress in the set collecting department, they haven't resulted in much "hit"-wise.
While out picking up a few things today I continued my sporatic pack breaking with several more packs of 2011-12 Upper Deck and Pinnacle.  Out of the Upper Deck, noteworthy would be the Colin Greening Young Guns #230 and a Canvas card of Patric Hornqvist #C49.

From the 2011-12 Pinnacle breaks I did manage to pull a card I thought was scan worthy:

Here's a 2011-12 Pinnacle Zenith "Yours Truly" Update #SA Sam Gagner on card auto.  Surprised would be the most accurate emotion to describe the feeling when I pulled this as I've given myself the unshakable impression there's a "never pull a decent card" cloud looming over my head.

Pinnacle, Donruss and Upper Deck Rundown

Picked up a bunch of packs of random cards in an attempt to knock some cards from the want-lists, aside from some base that I needed I also pulled a few inserts - nothing to write home about but enough to scan and post a blog about.
First, lets start with the two packs of 2010-11 Panini Pinnacle - didn't really put a dent into what I have left to complete the set as I only managed to pull two cards that I needed; # 110 Tomas Vanek and #234 Dana Tyrell Ice Breakers.  Although worthy of a scan would be this card:

Martin St. Louis + Steven Stamkos / Chemistry On Canvas #3 - Nice feel to these cards, literally.

Through The Mail Trade: The Cardboard and Me

Happy Halloween everyone; it's snowing in some parts of Newfoundland today apparently but at the moment here in St. John's it looks more like a torrential downpour.  The longer the weather gods decide to put off a snowstorm the better in my opinion.

A big thank you to Barrett over at The Cardboard and Me for the cards as part of a trade that we made about a month ago.  I received the package today in good standing and it surely took a chunk out of a couple of my sets that I've been recently collecting.

Barrett sent 22 2010-11 Pinnacle cards my way - all of which I needed towards putting this set together.  I decided to post a scan just of my three favorites from the lot.  I'm not sure how many cards I still need from this but the want list has been updated if anyone is interested.

Also included in the lot were 17 cards from the 2011-12 Victory series.  The want list for this set has been updated as well, link on the sidebar for anyone who cares.

And he also sent over 32 cards from one of my all-time favorite sets, the 1997-98 Donruss Studio collection.  I've only recently picked up on attempting to complete this product so the 32 cards really help me out here.

1997-98 Pinnacle Mint Collection Break

Hello all - during the mid-90s hockey coins showcasing your favorite players poorly inscribed faces replacing Queens, sailboats and dead Presidents were all the rage.  Pinnacle released a mint collection two years straight and if my memory serves me correctly McDonald's even released a Team Canada set during the Nagano Olympics.  But the concept faded away fairly quickly.

Another wax-junk break today from the 1997-98 Pinnacle Mint Collection series.  18 packs, 2 more than inside a hobby box (although the hobby boxes carry 2 coins per pack and a much better odds at hitting something); found all of these from a plastic bin at Toys r Us for a buck each.

So let's start with the commons; the set includes 30 cards and 30 coins, there are two commons, one die-cut card and one coin per pack.  There are 6 different coin variations, ranging from bronze to 24k gold solid coins.  Check out the entire break after the jump.

2010-11 Pinnacle Want List

I finally got down to business and organized and bindered my collection of Pinnacle 2010-11 cards in numerical order; I also created a want list (included under the cut) so if anyone wanted to make a trade and help me out then be my guest, let me know and use the want list attached as a reference.

If anyone has any of these cards that are listed and would like to make a trade let me know, I'll have something packaged up and ready to mail off to you in no time.

2010-11 Pinnacle Value Packs Rip

By chance I'm getting pretty close to completing the set of Panini 2010-11 Pinnacle release; so I decided on a whim to pick up two of these value packs earlier in the week to help cut down the want list even further.

Out of the 80 cards that I unwrapped I only came up with three that I needed for my collection and another three parallels/inserts - one pack was literally a mirror of the other, exactly the same cards were included in each aside from a parallel.  I couldn't believe it, I wonder how they package these value packs.

1996-97 Pinnacle Mint Collection

Along with the 92-93 Upper Deck packs I picked up, I also bought the last remaining pack of these 1996-97 Pinnacle Mint Collection from the card store.  For only a $1.50 I thought it was well worth the pickup, again just for the novelty and nostalgic rip value.  Only 30 cards and 30 coins in the set with a chance of pulling silver and gold chase cards and also nickel-silver, gold-plated, fine silver and 24KT gold coins.

2010-11 Pinnacle 10 Pack Break

As the latest release from Panini's Pinnacle brand starts to roll out I find myself breaking packs of the 2010-11 release that I picked up maybe a couple months ago.  Ten packs to be exact, that were stored away for some period of time in one of the boxes on my desk.  I decided that it was finally time to tear into them and see what they held; given that I'm sorta near to closing in on the set (minus those Ice Breaker rookies) these ten packs should help in bringing me even closer.

Championship Collection Trading Cards Mystery Box Break

I was very curious as to what these boxes held inside when I saw them lying in the card dump-in.  Had to pick one up and let's just say I paid a little more than I had expected when it was rung in at the checkout counter. 

The box promises 16 factory sealed packs and I was blessed by the hockey card gods to have received an extra pack.  Above in the photo is a sample of what was inside, read more to check out the rundown.

2010-11 Pinnacle Box Break

I haven't been to the card shop in some time, so a Zellers pick-up will have to suffice.  Here are the results of a recent box break of 2010-11 Pinnacle, 8 packs 10 cards per pack.

I really enjoy the action shots on these cards and the base set doesn't seem too impossible to complete (200 cards), aside from the Ice Breakers sub-set which is a total of 50 cards; 20 of which are autographed parallels.

I really like the base set of these cards, there are a lot of very interesting looking shots on the front of the cards and the reverse includes a small paragraph long summary captioning the image.
