TTM Success from IceCaps Carl Klingberg

I haven't received a TTM return since January 31st, nearly three months ago.  The drought in returns only makes perfect sense since I haven't sent any fresh requests out before last month.  Seems like they're starting to make their way back home.

Sent a letter and a trading card to current St. John's IceCaps forward Carl Klingberg on 03/28/12 and received them earlier today; making it a quick 19 day turn around.  Klingberg has spent the majority of the season helping the IceCaps capture first place in their Division potting 15 goals and 37 points in 66 games.  Klingberg also saw some action in a Winnipeg Jets uniform this season, lacing up his skates for the team on 7 occasions.

Klingberg signed and returned this 2011-12 Score Hot Rookies card as I had requested.

TTM Success! Wendel Clark

I was surprised to find a ttm return awaiting me in my mailbox yesterday, lately I've almost given up on all the cards that I've sent out - but Wendel Clark pulled through, sending back the cards that I mailed off to him at the beginning of September; his John Hancock included.



Clarks return makes it number eight in my signed custom card collection, not too shabby in my opinion.

Henri Richard, Wendel Clark and Johnny Bower Send-offs

Had some time to spare this morning so I put together another four customs to send-off and hopefully have returned and signed as part of my TTM collection.  I've been watching a lot of the Legends of Hockey series lately so I did Henri Richard and Johnny Bower customs.  The Clark card came after watching the 1993 second round playoff series between the Leafs and Blues; and what a series it was.

And if you've noticed there's a fourth card in the photo; Pat Falloon.  For some odd reason, I was on a Falloon kick earlier in the week, reading about his career and what happened to him after the NHL - I even found myself digging out my Pat Falloon hockey cards!  So I decided to create a custom for him to have sent off and hopefully returned signed - but sadly I was unable to find a valid address for the guy.  I even tried sending a Facebook message to his mom (at least I think it was)!  She has yet to get back to me.

Jean Beliveau + Curtis Joseph Sendoffs

Finally got around to writing the letters to go along with my latest TTM send-offs to Jean Beliveau and Curtis Joseph.  I was inspired to write Beliveau after watching his feature on the Legends Of Hockey series and Joseph was one of my favorite netminders during the wax junk era.

TTM Success! Guy Lafleur

As I have been told, Hall of Famer Mr Guy Lafleur pulled through and signed and returned my custom card that I had sent him.

Very happy about the return from the former Canadien, he was poetry on ice. This return expands my signature custom collection to three.  Fingers still crossed on receiving the others.

TTM Success! Theoren Fleury

Receiving a return from Fleury felt a little up in the air, but he pulled through signing all 3 of the items that I had sent out.

Here's the custom that I made, now sporting the signature.  I'm now 2/3 on my first send out.

Fleury also signed a 92-93 Upper Deck card and a 97-98 Kraft Peanut Butter lid that I sent along.  He even returned a Sakic/Brodeur lid that I sent with the package by accident.

Overall very happy about the return, Fleury was one of my favorite players and someone who I looked up to as a kid.  Great to have him as part of my custom collection.

Dion Phaneuf and Tie Domi TTM Send Off

Dropped these two cards into the mail slot earlier today - a current and a former Maple Leaf.  Not sure what the chances are getting these returned from these guys but what the heck.  One thing I've found so far about sending away these custom cards to have signed is that it's a lot like sending out messages in bottles.

The cards are different looking than the ones I have previously sent out; colored in nly black and white with some space on the reverse that could be used to sign on.

TTM Success! Don Cherry

Received my first ever TTM success earlier today from Mr Don Cherry on a custom card that I had made just for him.  He signed both sides of the card and even personalized it for me.  Thank you Don for pulling through! 

He also responded to my letter and sent along a few other things as well, check it all out under the cut.

Glenn Hall TTM Send Off

Although I read that he had stopped signing through the mail and reports that he requested the inclusion of money for a signature, I still made and mailed a custom to Glenn Hall.  Hall was one of the greatest goaltenders of his era and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1975.

Guy Lafleur + Michael Ryder Sendoffs

My second lot of TTMs were mailed earlier this evening.I had designed a card for Michael Ryder as part of a Hometown Hereos set that I plan on making, featuring a few custom cards from Newfoundland born players.  I just hope that the players are just as eager to sign my cards as I am to make theem! I would really like to get this card back; I think it looks great; front and back.

The other card was customed for Mr. Guy Lafleur.  One of the greatest players of all-time!  I was able to catch a tribute video while visiting the Hockey Hall Of Fame in Toronto recently and it just blew my mind!  Since then, Guy Lafleur has been on my mind and I was stoked to make this trading card.  I love the image that I used for the back, check it out!

My First Send Off

Now that Canada Post is going back to work, I can finally send out my first few TTMs that I had made over the past couple of days!

Don Cherry, Theoren Fleury and Carey Price.  Love how all of these cards came out; no complaints really, just the way I had imagined.  They were kinda hard to let go - It's almost like sending them off to war, knowing full well that there`s a chance that I may never see them again.  But that whole gamble makes it a little more exciting and I bet the experience is that much more sweeter when you receive a response.
